How Violet Eats...by Grandma Julie

How Violet Eats

Most two-year-olds eat junk food whenever they please.
Chicken fingers, hot dogs, spaghetti and mac and cheese.

When we sit down to dinner, you glance down at your food,
A rainbow of choices in front of you to see if you're in the mood.

Sometimes broccoli or clementines seem like they are fun.
And sometimes nothing strikes you and you say that you’re all done.

And we might try some raisins or some crackers just for you
But when you say that you're all done you are really mean you're through.

Then Mommy plays The Hornpipe. You're excited at the sound.
You giddy-up with one pointed toe and dance around and round.

And then we finish eating and we finally clear the dishes.
We go into the kitchen and you tell us of your wishes.

You ask us for an M and we're happy that you ate.
‘Cause air and sunshine help you grow but chocolate tastes great.

So eat your cake Sweet Violet the purple and the white.
Happy birthday two years old you are a true delight.
