Violet at 2 1/2, by Grandma Julie

Language Explosion
Violet at 2 and 1/2

In the past six months I have learned to speak.
Some of my words are really unique.
Sometimes I say a sentence and Daddy has to guess.
I have the cutest lisp when I say the word yes.

When I see an animal, I know their names.
Most I say just right but I sometimes play a game.
Some I say in code and you need to conclude
Like when I see a turtle I say “Hey Dude“!

The side came off my crib and now I’m free.
My clock turns green so it’s time for me
To get out of bed and knock down the gate
Come downstairs by myself, no longer have to wait.

Now I go potty all by myself.
Get a candy treat off the pantry shelf.
Oatmeal bars are my favorite food.
I’ll eat something else if I’m in the mood.

Into my castle I like to climb.
To make my pizza for dinnertime.
I love to make messes but as a rule
Mommy likes to save them for my preschool.

Love the playground, swing so high,
Aren’t afraid to use the big-kid slide.
Don’t sing me a lullaby if I bump my head.
I want to hear “Monkeys jumping on the bed”.

Walking on sidewalks is not what I do.
I walk on the grass ‘til I get a rock shoe.
I walk on hikes now, am seldom in the pack
‘Cause I’m getting too big to wear on your back.

I’m a big girl now and it’s plain to see
We’ll have so much fun between now and when I’m three.
